Powertrain: 5.0-Liter V8 Hybrid System

The third-generation Century, announced for release in mid-2018, is a model with a strong image as a chauffeur-driven car for official use by government agencies and major corporations. This is its first full model change in approximately 20 years.

Developed as a chauffeur car prioritizing rear-seat comfort, the Century inherits "master craftsmanship" and "high-quality manufacturing" while pursuing environmental performance and passenger comfort, according to Toyota.

The engine has been changed from the previous 5-liter V12 to a 5.0-liter V8 hybrid system, improving fuel efficiency.

The body dimensions are 5,335mm in length, 1,930mm in width, and 1,505mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,090mm. The increased length, wheelbase, and tread create a sense of gravitas while the stretched wheelbase allows for a more spacious rear seat. Furthermore, the scuff plates and floor have been lowered, and the door openings enlarged, making entry and exit easier.

While the exterior maintains a similar concept, the grille and lamps are integrated to create a sense of unity and power. The clearance lamps feature a Shippo (cloisonné) pattern, blending Japanese aesthetics with a luxurious yet serene styling.

The interior features a coffered ceiling design and traditional patterns, showcasing the craftsmanship befitting Toyota's flagship luxury sedan. Seat upholstery is available in 100% wool fabric, known for its elasticity and soft touch, or in genuine leather. Additionally, an adjustable rear seat with an electric ottoman and a refresh function allows rear passengers to control the seats, air conditioning, and audio volume.

Safety features have also been incorporated, including a pre-collision system and blind spot monitor.

The new Century is scheduled for release in mid-2018.
