Commercial Release Scheduled for Summer 2018
The sedan "Crown," born in 1955 and with a rich history, is getting a new model that will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show.CrownThe new 15th-generation "Crown Concept" will be publicly revealed for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The new "Crown Concept," the 15th generation, features a completely new platform based on "TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture)." The driving performance has been refined through rigorous testing, including on-road tests at the Nürburgring in Germany.
The body dimensions are approximately the same as the current model, measuring 4,910mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,455mm in height, making it compatible with multi-story parking garages. The wheelbase has been extended by 70mm to 2,920mm, creating a more spacious interior.
Furthermore, the new model enhances connected technology. By leveraging big data, it aims to alleviate traffic congestion and predict vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs through vehicle information. All vehicles will be equipped with standard onboard communication devices, enabling them to adapt to the IoT society where everything is connected to the internet.
The Crown is scheduled for release around the summer of 2018. We look forward to seeing what kind of vehicle the 15th generation will become.
