Information display for track use
First introduced in 1964, the sixth-generation Mustang has continued its journey for nearly 50 years as America's representative sports car. In 2005, it reappeared with a bold body design that inherited the concept of the original model. The 2013 model has now gone on sale in Japan.
While inheriting the iconic design of its long-nose, short-deck proportions, the new model features refreshed front and rear designs, enhancing its more powerful and sporty impression. The HID headlights also sport a new design, and the small lamps use LED bulbs. The three-combination rear lamps, a design icon of the Mustang, also utilize LEDs, giving it a more modern look.
Inside, a 4.2-inch information display is positioned in the center of the instrument panel. This display features a track-up function, allowing for measurements such as 0-60 mph acceleration and 0-400m acceleration, adding functions to enhance the sports driving experience. These can be operated via switches on the steering wheel. Furthermore, the V6 model is now equipped with seat heaters for both the driver and front passenger, similar to the V8 model.
The powertrain has also evolved. A new "SelectShift Transmission" has been introduced, allowing drivers to enjoy manual mode operation via shift switches on the shift lever. Additionally, the maximum output of the V8 engine has been increased by 8 ps to 426 ps, promising a more exciting drive.
The lineup remains the same as before, with three models: V8 Convertible, V8 Coupe, and V6 Coupe. Despite the addition of features and performance enhancements, the prices have been kept the same as the current models.
