Debut in Frankfurt

The improved "i3," scheduled for its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, features redesigned exterior and interior, and the addition of a sporty "i3s" version.

The exterior boasts a new front and rear bumper incorporating LED turn signals, full LED headlights, and a blacked-out A-pillar and roofline. New body colors include Melbourne Red Metallic and Imperial Blue Metallic.

The interior is highlighted by new Solar Brown wool/leather combination seats, and a 10.25-inch high-resolution screen on the dashboard center displays navigation and "BMW i ConnectedDrive" information.

"s" Model Reaches 160 km/h Top Speed, 0-100 km/h in 6.9 Seconds

Both models share the same 94Ah/33kWh lithium-ion battery. However, the motor powering the rear wheels, located above the rear axle, sees its peak output and maximum torque increased from 170ps (125kW)/250Nm in the i3 to 184ps (135kW)/270Nm in the "i3s." This results in a faster car, with the i3s achieving a top speed of 160 km/h and accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, compared to the i3's 150 km/h and 7.3 seconds.

The maximum range on a single charge is 300 km for the i3 and 280 km for the i3s. Both models offer an optional range extender with a 647cc, 2-cylinder gasoline engine producing 38ps (28kW) and 56Nm.

The sportier i3s features a lowered ride height by 10mm with revised springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, a 40mm wider track, and 20-inch wheels with wider tires housed in black wheel arches for a more aggressive exterior. The interior includes floor mats with special lettering.

The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) systems, specifically tuned for the EV model, have new settings allowing for agile slip control even at high speeds. A sport mode, selectable via a control switch, is also included to match the high-performance driving experience.
