Lap Time Improved by Approximately 7 Seconds Over Previous Model
The production model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland this March.New Civic Type RIt has already been announced that sales will begin this summer in Japan, North America, and other regions worldwide.
With its launch imminent, the Civic Type R has released videos and other content showcasing its record-setting 7 minute 43.80 second lap time for an FF model at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieved with a final development vehicle prior to production.
The powertrain features a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine producing a maximum of 320 ps and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Acceleration performance has been improved through a lower gear ratio in the 6-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, the adoption of a new platform enhances torsional rigidity and reduces body weight by 16 kg, contributing to improved driving dynamics. This resulted in a 6.83-second reduction in lap time compared to the previous model.
Additionally, a multi-link rear suspension has been adopted, which Honda claims improves steering response and cornering performance.
Focus has also been placed on drivability on public roads, not just on the circuit. Drivers can select the optimal driving experience from three driving modes, including a newly introduced Comfort mode.
Production will be carried out in the UK, as with the previous model, and sales in Japan are scheduled to begin in July of this year.
