Michelin to be the Technical Partner for Tires
Aston Martin and F1's Red Bull Racing have joined forces to create the "AM-RB 001," a hypercar that has generated significant buzz for its unprecedented concept: a V12 engine producing 1,000 horsepower in a 1,000kg body, all while being road-legal. This remarkable machine has now been given the name "Valkyrie."
For Aston Martin, names beginning with the letter "V" hold significant importance. Starting with the "Vantage" in 1951, the company has bestowed this prestigious lineage upon special models such as theVirageandVanquishandVulcan.
The "Valkyrie," newly inscribed into this lineage, draws its name from Norse mythology. It refers to a being that determines the fate of those who live and die on the battlefield, and is the English spelling of "Valkyrie."
In addition to Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the development of the "Valkyrie" involves other partners with cutting-edge expertise, includingCosworth to Handle the Engineand others. It has now been announced that Michelin, a tire manufacturer, will also participate.
The "Valkyrie" will feature Michelin's "Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires," with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear. These tires will be paired with lightweight magnesium alloy wheels, and race-spec center lock nuts will be fitted to reduce weight.
The "Valkyrie" will be produced in a limited run of 150 road-legal models and 25 track-only models. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2019.
