BMW Transitions to New Generation Modular Engines

BMW is currently transitioning its gasoline models to new-generation modular engines with a displacement of 500cc per cylinder. Recently, models announced in September, such as the3 Series Gran Turismo" and the 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder"M140i" and "M240i Coupe", have already been released.

The "220i Coupe" and the "120i", previously equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo, will now feature a new 2.0-liter inline-four turbo gasoline engine. It produces a maximum output of 135 kW (184 ps) and a maximum torque of 270 Nm (27.5 kgm).

The transmission is an 8-speed AT for the "120i" and an 8-speed sport AT for the "220i Coupe". Both achieve a JC08 mode fuel economy of 15.9 km/ℓ.

Prices are ¥4.18 million for the "120i Sport" and "120i Style", and ¥4.33 million for the "120i M Sport". For the 2 Series, the "220i Coupe Sport" is ¥4.78 million, and the "220i Coupe M Sport" is ¥5.02 million.
