Aston Martin has revealed the development of the code-named "AM-RM001," a supercar following the "One-77" supercar.
This AM-RM001 is being developed through a technical partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. It will be powered by a newly developed, high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 engine mounted mid-ship. While specific details such as maximum output and torque have not been disclosed, the lightweight carbon fiber construction is expected to achieve a power-to-weight ratio of 1.0 kg/ps.
Despite its high performance, a key feature is its road-legal capability. Aston Martin explains that ample space has been secured for the driver and passenger, with careful attention paid to efficiency and packaging. For those seeking more intense driving, a circuit-only version, adhering to LMP1 Le Mans sports prototype specifications, will also be available.
Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer at Red Bull Racing, commented, "Aston Martin's ability to create beautiful, fast, and comfortable GT cars brings significant advantages to this project. I have always believed that the AM-RB 001 should be a road car capable of ultimate performance on the track. Technology that is easy to handle and comfortable, yet delivers extraordinary performance – this is the secret key I sought for this car."
The engineering of the AM-RB 001 will be jointly handled by Aston Martin's bespoke division, Q by Aston Martin Advanced, and Red Bull Advanced Technologies. Production will take place at the Gaydon factory, the same facility that produced the One-77. A total of 99 to 150 units are planned, including prototypes and 25 circuit versions. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018.
