The MP4-12C Gains 25ps
Following its world premiere early last spring,McLaren MP4-12Cnow, almost a year after its launch, it has received a significant update since its debut. The main feature is the increase in engine power. While the V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine mounted midship remains the same, its software tune has boosted the maximum output from 600ps to 625ps, an increase of 25ps. Furthermore, the 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox also features revised control programming, allowing it to respond more quickly and smoothly to delicate throttle inputs.
According to McLaren's official announcement, the 0-100km/h acceleration remains unchanged at 3.1 seconds, but the 0-200km/h acceleration is now 0.1 seconds faster at 8.8 seconds, and the 0-300km/h acceleration has been reduced by a full second to 26.5 seconds. The top speed has also increased from 330km/h to 333km/h. Meanwhile, fuel economy remains unchanged at 11.7ℓ/100km (approx. 8.55km/ℓ), and CO2 emissions are 279g/km.
This update reflects feedback from existing customers, and the engine and transmission upgrades will be provided free of charge to all McLaren MP4-12C owners who have already taken delivery.
World Debut at Goodwood on June 30th
While there are no major changes to the exterior or interior of this 2013 model, the redesigned ISG (Intake Sound Generator System) has made the engine sound entering the cabin more exciting. Additionally, personalized options such as newly designed wheels and interiors using semi-aniline leather have been added.
The McLaren MP4-12C, further refined by this update, will make its world debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 30th. At the wheel will be F1 GP champion driver Jenson Button. The sound of 625ps will echo through the hills of Goodwood.
