Rolls-Royce "Dawn" Begins Accepting Orders in Japan
Rolls-Royce has begun accepting orders for its new open-top model, the "Dawn," in Japan. The price was also announced, starting from ¥37.4 million.

Deliveries Scheduled for Summer This Year
The "Dawn," Rolls-Royce's fourth model following the "Phantom," "Ghost," and "Wraith," was unveiled to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September.DawnThe new model, named "Dawn" after the meaning of "daybreak," has been developed with inspiration from the "Silver Dawn," of which only 28 units were produced between 1950 and 1954.Silver DawnThe "Silver Dawn," produced only from 1950 to 1954.
Despite being an open-top model, the Dawn is designed to comfortably accommodate four adults. The electric roof can be operated while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h and can be closed in about 20 seconds.
Like other Rolls-Royce models, the drivetrain features a 6.6-liter V12 twin-turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 420 kW (570 ps) and peak torque of 780 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission equipped with a satellite-aided transmission function that uses GPS data to anticipate road conditions ahead.
Despite its substantial weight of 2,640 kg, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The price for the Dawn in Japan starts from ¥37.4 million, with deliveries scheduled for around summer 2016.
