At the 42nd Tokyo Motor ShowJapan PremiereThe Citroen DS5, which made its Japan premiere, will finally be introduced to Japan. The grade will be "DS5 Chic." Two optional packages are also scheduled to be available.

The Citroen DS line is complete

For Citroen, "DS" is a special name. It was the name given to models that became milestones in the automotive world, thanks to their distinctive design and advanced hydropneumatic mechanism.

However, the new DS line is by no means a nostalgic car. The name DS has been revived as a cutting-edge premium model, celebrating the 21st century. Following the compact hatchback "DS3" released in 2009, and the compact crossover "DS4" released in 2011, the DS5, which fuses a grand tourer and a station wagon, is now being introduced to Japan. This is the car that France's new president, François Hollande, rode in during his parade.

The "DS5," based on the concept model "C-SportLounge" exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005, is not only elegantly styled but also achieves a Cd value of 0.29. The 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC turbo engine, similar to the "C5," produces a maximum output of 115kW (156ps) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 240Nm at 1,400-3,500 rpm to drive the 1,550kg body. Furthermore, thanks to its excellent aerodynamics, it achieves a balance of dynamic driving, characteristic of the DS series, and low fuel consumption of 11.3 km/l (JC08 mode).

The "DS Chic" for Japan comes with two options

The grade scheduled for introduction in Japan is the "DS5 Chic," which comes standard with a combination of Dynamica and leather seats. Two types of options will be available: a more luxurious interior "Leather Seat" and "Club Leather Seat."

The "Leather Seat" includes an electric driver's seat with memory and heating functions, an electric passenger seat with heating, and active lumbar support. And the "Club Leather Seat" version is likely the best way to experience the essence of the "DS5." This club leather seat, made entirely of Bavarian bull leather from Germany, can be chosen from three colors: Fawn (deer color), Rouge (wine red), and Mistral (black), and is crafted in a "watch strap" design, as the name suggests, inspired by watch straps. It was also exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show, so perhaps some of you have experienced it.

Furthermore, the center console and roof console feature toggle switches, creating an interior reminiscent of an aircraft cockpit. A head-up display is also mounted behind the steering wheel. The glass roof is divided into three sections for the driver, front passenger, and rear seats, each of which can be opened and closed.

There are six body colors in total. The official announcement in Japan will be on June 19th (Tuesday).
