40.8 km Per Liter Fuel Economy
The Prius, a pioneer in hybrid cars, has evolved into its fourth generation. This new model, the first to be built on Toyota's new platform, "Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA)," promises a leap in fundamental performance.
By utilizing TNGA, which is meticulously engineered with shared parts and platforms to be compatible with many models, Toyota aims to ensure high fundamental performance while reducing development costs for new models. The budget saved is then allocated to fine-tuning and enhancing features, thereby strengthening the overall product appeal of Toyota vehicles.
The powertrain of the new Prius, which achieves class-leading and world-class fuel efficiency, combines a highly efficient 1.8-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor. The "E" grade, which achieves the most outstanding fuel economy of 40.8 km/ℓ, uses a lithium-ion battery for drive power. Other grades are equipped with nickel-hydride batteries, offering fuel efficiency of 37.2 km/ℓ for 2WD models and 34.0 km/ℓ for the Prius's first-ever AWD system, "E-Four (electric all-wheel drive)," all boasting the high fuel efficiency expected of the Prius.
The stylish exterior, described as "low-center-of-gravity style," features a 20mm reduction in overall height compared to the previous generation, with significantly lowered nose and hip lines. The roofline has also been moved forward by 170mm to enhance aerodynamic performance, evolving into a more coupe-like silhouette. Various aerodynamic improvements, such as an auto-opening grille shutter that balances airflow and cooling, and underbody airflow management, contribute to a drag coefficient (Cd) as low as 0.24.

Equipped with Advanced Safety Features
The interior, with its center meter layout, has not only evolved into a more advanced style but also prioritizes comfort and a pleasant atmosphere for long drives. Specifically, it realizes an easy-to-drive cockpit with a TFT twin-monitor instrument panel for enhanced visibility, highly supportive front seats for maintaining a comfortable driving posture, and a wide field of vision to reduce driver fatigue.
Toyota's advanced safety features include the "Toyota Safety Sense P" package, which comes standard on "A" and higher grades, and is available as an option on other grades. This package includes a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection using millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera, a Full-Speed Range Radar Cruise Control, a Lane Departure Alert that warns and assists with lane departures, and Automatic High Beams that automatically switch between high and low beams. These features are more advanced than the "Toyota Safety Sense C" already adopted in models like the Corolla.
The grade lineup includes the "E" for enhanced fuel efficiency, the standard "S," the "A" with added features like "Toyota Safety Sense P," and the "A Premium" with premium items such as leather seats. Additionally, for "S," "A," and "A Premium" grades, a "Touring Selection" option is available, featuring AWD "E-Four" and 17-inch alloy wheels. Prices range from ¥2,420,000 to ¥3,394,145.
With an order backlog of 60,000 units already from pre-orders alone, the new Prius is poised to become a ubiquitous presence on the streets, much like its predecessors.
