Porsche Confirms Development of First EV Model

The concept car, which made its world premiere as Porsche's first EV concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, the "Mission E" will now move forward as a full-scale development project aimed at production.

The Mission E features an elegant four-door coupe body housing an electric motor delivering over 600 horsepower. Its all-wheel-drive system enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds, while also offering a range of over 500 kilometers for long-distance journeys.

The lithium-ion battery, integrated into the vehicle floor, can be charged to 80 percent of its maximum range in just 15 minutes using a specially developed 800-volt charging unit. This combination of practicality and performance defines Porsche's new generation of sports cars.

With the upcoming Mission E project, Porsche plans to invest approximately one billion euros and create over 1,000 new jobs, primarily in the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen region. Specifically, around 700 million euros will be invested in the main plant, with new paint and assembly shops to be constructed over the next few years. The existing engine plant will also be expanded for electric motor production. Investments will also extend to the R&D center in Weissach.

Dr. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, emphasized Porsche's commitment to electric mobility, stating, "This project marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the sports car." He expressed a firm resolve to create a new EV sports car that is unmistakably a Porsche.

Porsche's first all-electric sports model will be produced at the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant, the heart of Germany's automotive industry, and is scheduled for market launch by the end of 2020.
