A Special Edition Inspired by Naples' Symbol, Mount Vesuvius

Fiat Group Automobiles Japan announced on the 2nd that it will release the "Cinquecento Vesuvio," a special edition based on the "Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) TwinAir POP," in a limited run of 100 units starting Tuesday, April 10th. A commemorative campaign will also run until Friday, May 25th.

Chic Electroclash Grey with Italian Flag Accents

The Cinquecento TwinAir, with its innovative concept of downsizing from the previous 1.2-liter four-cylinder to an 875cc two-cylinder turbo engine, has improved intake efficiency and enhanced fuel economy by approximately 30 percent. This model, equipped with an idling stop function and an eco-switch, offers the characteristic light, rhythmic patter of a two-cylinder engine and a lively, torque-filled drive. Now, a new limited edition inspired by Mount Vesuvius, the symbol of Naples, Italy, has arrived.

The exterior is elegantly finished in a limited-edition Electroclash Grey, with the Italian flag on the fender badges providing a striking accent. The side window bottom line, exhaust pipe finisher, and bumper with accent lines are all chrome-plated, and the car rides on 15-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, it comes equipped with features such as full auto air conditioning, and is priced at 2.25 million yen, 100,000 yen higher than the base "Cinquecento TwinAir POP."

The 875cc inline 2-cylinder turbo engine delivers a maximum output of 63 kW (85 ps) at 5,500 rpm under normal conditions, and 57 kW (77 ps) at 5,500 rpm when the eco-switch is used. The maximum torque is 145 Nm (14.8 kgm) at 1,900 rpm normally, and 100 Nm (10.2 kgm) at 2,000 rpm with the eco-switch engaged. Despite its compact engine and body, it offers a powerful and engaging driving experience that belies its size.

"Spirit of Napoli" Campaign Runs Until May 25th

To commemorate the launch of the "Cinquecento Vesuvio," Fiat will hold a special launch fair at its authorized dealerships on Saturday, April 14th, and Sunday, April 15th. Additionally, the "Spirit of Napoli" campaign will run until Friday, May 25th, featuring Neapolitan playwright Eduardo De Filippo. One hundred lucky winners will receive Japanese editions of De Filippo's works and DVDs, while the Fiat Café in Aoyama will exhibit a Cinquecento from the 1950s, the era when De Filippo was active.

A dedicated website for the "Cinquecento Vesuvio" has also been launched. Among those who correctly answer a quiz, one pair will be randomly selected to win a trip to Naples, including a drive along the Amalfi Coast with a dedicated driver. The site offers a wealth of content introducing the charms of the special edition car and De Filippo.
