Ferrari's Race-Focused Booth

The Bologna Motor Show opened in Italy on December 3rd. The Ferrari booth is lined with race-exclusive vehicles. First, the fifth-generation model of the one-make race, which is in its 19th year and held across three continents—Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific—the "Ferrari 458 Challenge". In addition, AF Corse, which won both the driver and team titles in this year's Le Mans Series, will exhibit the "Ferrari 458 Italia GT2" and "458 Italia GT3".

Most notably, the world premiere of the "Ferrari 599XX" race-exclusive model equipped with the "Evolution Package" is a highlight.

The base vehicle, the 599XX, already incorporates cutting-edge technology developed from F1 machines. This enhanced performance model will only be available to users participating in the research and development program based on circuits from the 2012-2013 season.

Maximum Output 750ps, Maximum Torque 700Nm!

The most significant feature of the Evolution Package is the newly developed active rear wing. This wing, called the "Opening Gap," uses two flaps that rotate electronically, similar to the design used in F1, to control downforce based on vehicle speed and conditions.

All electronic controls are optimized using information on steering angle, longitudinal acceleration, lateral G-force, and vehicle speed. At 200 km/h, the total downforce generated is 330 kg with the flaps open and 440 kg with the flaps closed.

Additionally, the exhaust system adopts a side-pipe configuration, increasing maximum output by 20ps to 750ps/9,000rpm and achieving a maximum torque of 700Nm. It is also equipped with new Pirelli tires, and the vehicle weight has been reduced by 35kg.

Furthermore, on December 3rd, the opening day of the Bologna Motor Show, a demonstration run of the 2010 F1 car "Ferrari F10" by special guest F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella was held at the Competition Arena.
