A New Model of the Ghost with Enhanced Roominess Arrives in Japan!

Rolls-Roycehas announced the "Ghost Extended Wheelbase" in Japan, a new model of the "Ghost" that was born in 2009. This model boasts an extended wheelbase and further enhanced roominess, building upon the Ghost's reputation as the most powerful saloon for drivers in Rolls-Royce history.

Wheelbase Extended by 170mm from the Base Model

"The Ghost combines sophisticated design, unparalleled luxury, and a ride and handling performance born from the highest standards of engineering. By extending the wheelbase of this Ghost, we have created an uncompromising vehicle with even greater roominess," said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, describing the latest model, the "Ghost Extended Wheelbase," which has now arrived in Japan.

The Ghost Extended Wheelbase is the sixth model produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars since production began in Goodwood, UK, in 2003. Although it is the most compact model in the current Rolls-Royce lineup, its wheelbase has been extended by 170mm compared to the base model to meet the new market demand for increased rear-seat roominess. This extends the rear legroom to 330mm (compared to 160mm in the Ghost). Consequently, the overall length has also increased by 170mm, while the height and width remain unchanged.

Rear Seats: Not Just Spacious, but Also Well-Equipped

In addition to the increased space, the rear seats are equipped as standard with "Individual Seats" that can move independently, a 9.2-inch LCD display on the back of the front seats for watching TV or DVDs, and an audio system with 16 speakers and a 10-channel, 600W amplifier. The panoramic sunroof allows ample natural light to fill the cabin, and a rotary controller located in the rear armrest allows for direct operation of navigation system settings from the rear seats.

Despite the significant extension of the wheelbase, the rear doors have only been extended by 35mm compared to the front doors. This has successfully maintained the smooth, flowing body surfaces and the dynamic, stylish design of the standard Ghost. The overall impression is one of even greater presence than before.

Maximum Torque of 780Nm Generated from a Low 1,500rpm

The Ghost Extended Wheelbase is equipped with the same 6.6-liter V12 twin-turbocharged engine as the standard Ghost. It produces a maximum output of 420kW (563bhp) and a maximum torque of 780Nm, generated from a low engine speed of just 1,500rpm. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h before the limiter engages.

The suspension features double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear, integrated with a four-wheel independent intelligent air suspension system and electronically controlled variable dampers. Forged wheels have been newly added.

The body is available in 12 colors, with an option for a silver satin finish on the bonnet.
