World Premiere at Frankfurt Motor Show
Ferrariwill unveil the "458 Spider," an open-top version of its mid-engined sports car "458 Italia," at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

A Mid-Engined Car with a Full Retractable Hardtop
The first notable feature is its full retractable hardtop made of aluminum. This is a world-first for a mid-engined sports car. Compared to traditional soft tops, it reduces weight by approximately 25kg and shortens the open/close time to just 14 seconds.
To maximize comfort while driving with the top down, it is equipped with a variable electric wind stopper. This moderates airflow in the cockpit, allowing for normal conversation even at speeds exceeding 200 km/h.
The innovative "buttress-less" form, with its swollen rear section, not only optimizes airflow to the engine intakes but also ensures sufficient cooling air reaches the clutch.
With dimensions of 4,527mm long, 1,937mm wide, and 1,211mm high, the body size is nearly identical to the "458 Italia". The engine is also the same: a naturally aspirated, direct-injection 4.5-liter V8 unit, producing a maximum output of 570ps at 9,000rpm and peak torque of 540Nm at 6,000rpm, with a 0-100km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds. The electronic systems, including the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, E-Diff, and ABS, are integrated for maximum handling performance. Furthermore, to accommodate the open-top design, chassis rigidity and the damping force of the multi-link suspension have been enhanced, resulting in a car that balances performance and responsiveness.
The "458 Spider" inherits the charm of Ferrari's "open-top Berlinetta (coupe)." The actual appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show is highly anticipated.
