Rapide to be Exhibited for Great East Japan Earthquake Relief Efforts
In response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, Aston Martin will exhibit a Rapide at a Bonhams auction, with proceeds to be donated as relief funds.

A Model Hailed as One of the Most Beautiful Cars
Since its production model was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Rapide has been continuously praised as an elegant four-door sports car. At the 2011 New York Auto Show, it was selected "2011 World Car Design of the Year" by a jury of 66 international journalists, solidifying its esteemed position as one of the most beautiful cars available today.
Aston Martin is offering a Rapide for auction through Bonhams, the venerable London auction house, with the proceeds designated for relief efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck in March 2011. Bonhams has also announced that it will waive its seller's commission for this consignment.
Recently,at the launch event for the V8 Vantage S in JapanAston Martin also conducted a fundraising drive. Regarding this exhibition, CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez stated, "No one was unaffected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Aston Martin has a long history in Japan, and our recent projects have forged even closer ties with the Japanese automotive industry. We wanted to do something to help our many friends in Japan."
The Rapide to be exhibited is chassis number F00039, a right-hand drive UK specification model produced in 2009. It is a car that Ulrich Bez has used for business purposes. The body is finished in Concours Blue, the interior in Obsidian Black leather with Falcon Grey stitching, and the carpets are black. It is equipped with heating and ventilation functions, an integrated garage door opener, and a 2
in-screen DVD system rear-seat entertainment system with infrared headphones.
The auction will be held on May 21st, starting at 9:00 AM, at Aston Martin Works Service in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.
