Porsche to Announce Next Hybrid


Porsche AG has announced that it will hold the world premiere of a parallel full hybrid model at the 81st Geneva Motor Show, opening March 1.

While detailed information has not been released at this time, Porsche AG is set to hold the world premiere of a new hybrid model at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

This marksCayenne S Hybrida new stage in the "Porsche Intelligent Performance" philosophy, following the success of the. The new hybrid model is set to be unveiled at a press conference held at the Porsche stand in the venue, starting at 7:30 AM on March 1.

Porsche AG has not revealed details beyond "parallel full hybrid model," but it is likely that the long-rumored Panamera Hybrid will debut. The powertrain and hybrid system are expected to be largely the same as those in the Cayenne S Hybrid, with a system output of 283 kW (380 ps) and a maximum torque of 580 Nm (59.1 kgm) being highly probable. In terms of environmental performance, further improvements over the Cayenne S Hybrid's fuel economy of 8.2 L/100 km (12.2 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 193 g/km can be expected.

In addition to the world premiere of this "new hybrid model" at the Geneva show, the918 RSR hybrid racing car conceptwill also be publicly displayed for its European premiere. This mid-engined coupe combines the design of the 918 Spyder with911 GT3 R hybrid racing cartechnology, generating significant buzz at its debut at the Detroit show in January. The already available for pre-orderCayman Rwill also be exhibited for the first time in Europe.

Furthermore, special limited editions of the 911 and Boxster, the911 Black EditionandBoxster S Black Editionwill be on display. The former is a limited production of only 1,911 units, based on the 911 Carrera which produces 254 kW (345 ps). The latter is a new top model with an output of 235 kW (320 ps), 7 kW (10 ps) more than the Boxster S, with a limited production run of 987 units.
