An Entirely New Styling Direction

The 2015 Geneva Motor Show opens this March. Aston Martin's stand is expected to have a stronger motorsport image than ever before.

Alongside the hardcore road-going version of theVantagebased on theVantage GT3, which had its official photos released recently, the track-only model "Vulcan" will also be exhibited. Today, information regarding its images, specifications, and an ambitious training program has been released.

First and foremost, the chassis and body, which are of greatest interest, are constructed entirely from carbon fiber. The body design showcases an entirely new styling that is likely to influence future Aston Martin production models.

However, the chassis maximally leverages Aston Martin's know-how and connections gained from GT championships worldwide. It features a monocoque and body by carbon fiber specialists Multimatic, an integral limited-slip differential, a magnesium torque tube and carbon fiber propeller shaft, Brembo racing calipers, and carbon-ceramic racing disc brakes (380mm front, 360mm rear).

Furthermore, the pushrod suspension, heavily influenced by motorsport, incorporates anti-dive geometry, combined with Multimatic's Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) variable dampers, front/rear anti-roll bars, an ABS system adjustable by the driver, and variable traction control.

A Sports Car for True Sports Car Enthusiasts

Meanwhile, regarding the power unit mounted at the front, only that it is a "7.0-liter V12 gasoline engine" has been announced. This means it is approximately 300cc smaller than the 7.3-liter engine in the "ONE-77," but through tuning by Aston Martin Racing, it is said to produce over 800ps, at least 40ps more than the ONE-77's 760ps.

As a result, the Vulcan's power-to-weight ratio is said to reach a level that surpasses that of GTE machines in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This immense power is then transmitted via an Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox, mid-mounted at the rear, to the 345/30x19 rear wheels and Michelin racing tires.

Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer commented on the Vulcan as follows: "The Aston Martin Vulcan is, as its origins suggest, a rare and thrilling supercar. Designed and engineered to offer a bespoke driving experience, the Vulcan aligns with Aston Martin's heritage. Power and handling can be finely tuned to match the driver's skill and the circuit's characteristics.

I am confident that the Vulcan is a sports car for true sports car enthusiasts. Its unique ownership program further enhances its appeal. It could be said that we have set a completely new standard in the ultra-high luxury supercar class."

Production of the Vulcan Will Be Limited to Just 24 Units

David King, Director of Special Projects and Motorsport, who oversees the owner-exclusive program for the Vulcan, stated the following about the program: "Starting in 2016, we will hold exclusive track events at world-class circuits. We want owners to hone their skills and experience the Vulcan's potential at these venues."

This owner-exclusive program will include practical instruction from racing drivers such as Darren Turner, who has class victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours with Aston Martin, and opportunities for virtual training using Turner's own base performance simulator, offering truly comprehensive service.

As you know, Ferrari, a long-standing rival for over half a century, has already achieved great success with its "XX Program," which offers "customer test drivers" opportunities to drive on circuits with the "FXX" and "599XX," applying the acquired know-how to production sports cars.

Ferrari's business model has likely provided inspiration for Aston Martin as well. And it is almost certain that the Aston Martin Vulcan and its new program will also be a success.

The currently promised production run for the Vulcan is limited to just 24 units. All comply with the racing safety regulations set by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile). Furthermore, under the VIP sales program, which leverages the expertise of Aston Martin's bespoke personalization service, "Q by Aston Martin," the Vulcan will offer nearly limitless color and trim options.

Detailed performance data and technical specifications will be announced again closer to the car's circuit debut, scheduled for later this year.
