Renault will present its new, fifth-generation "Espace" at the Paris Motor Show 2014, held in its home country.Paris Motor Showat the Paris Motor Show.
The Renault "Espace" first appeared exactly 30 years ago in 1984. Born around the same time as vehicles like the Chrysler "Voyager" and Nissan "Prairie," it is considered one of the pioneering minivan models. Furthermore, in 1994, a show car called the "Espace F1," equipped with F1 technology of the time including a V10 engine, was created and garnered significant attention.
The latest Espace revealed features a 5- or 7-seater configuration. While it can be described as a minivan in Japanese terms, its elevated ride height, large wheels that extend to the four corners, and underguards at the front and rear give it an SUV-like presence. Renault describes the new Espace as an elegant and innovative crossover with a powerful design and captivating expression.
The front adopts the new Renault face, first seen on the new "Lutecia." The sharply angled D-pillars and other design elements largely inherit the stylistic features of the concept car "last year's Frankfurt Motor Show" announced atInitiale Paris" which was presented at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
Details of the interior have not yet been released, but it is said to feature a floating center console, creating a cabin that is welcoming to passengers.
This new Espace is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2015, priced around 35,000 euros (approximately 4.8 million yen). Further details will be announced by CEO Carlos Ghosn at the Paris Motor Show, held in Renault's home territory on October 2nd.
