The Popular Four-Door Model Gets Further Refinements
MINICrossoverhas garnered a large following as a more versatile MINI since its debut, and is a highly popular model in Japan. Key points of this update include refinements to its distinctive four-door style, improved environmental performance, and an expanded range of optional equipment. The grade structure remains unchanged, with a lineup from the standard "ONE" to the high-performance "John Cooper Works (JCW)" announced.
The distinctive four-door style, currently unique to MINI, remains largely unchanged. It is said to achieve an even more stylish design through meticulous detail refinements.
The most striking change is around the hexagonal front grille, which is split into upper and lower sections. The grille on the "Cooper S" now features new chrome-finished louvers as an accent. Additionally, a redesigned "S" emblem has been incorporated. Other grades also receive newly designed grilles, emphasizing the distinctiveness of each model.
The color lineup has also been revised, with new colors such as "Jungle Green Metallic" being added. For customization options, "Piano Black," with its lustrous sheen, is available for the first time on a MINI. Furthermore, when selecting the all-wheel-drive model, front, rear, and side spoilers will be standard equipment.

Engine Enhancements for Power and Fuel Efficiency
The powertrain lineup is diverse, boasting four gasoline and three diesel engines, totaling seven options. The transmission is a 6-speed manual, with an optional 6-speed automatic available on most grades.
The 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbo engine in the Cooper S has seen its maximum output increased by 5 kW to 140 kW (190 ps) compared to the previous model. Consequently, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time has improved by 0.1 seconds to 7.5 seconds. Meanwhile, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 3 percent to 139 g/km. Additionally, the engines for the Cooper and the diesel engines have also improved in performance while reducing environmental impact. All engines comply with the European EU6 emissions standard.
A new feature for all models is the tire pressure monitoring sensor, making air pressure management easier. The ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, a signature feature of the MINI Crossover, is available as an option for the Cooper and Cooper S series. For the high-performance "JCW" model, ALL4 comes as standard.
The cabin has been enhanced with an upgraded audio system for a more comfortable drive. The design of the display and control buttons has been completely revised, exuding a sense of luxury. Furthermore, the meters on all grades have been changed to JCW-style gray dials, emphasizing the active character of the MINI Crossover. The "John Cooper Works" logo is also added to the center meter on the JCW model for differentiation.
The refined new MINI Crossover, with its detailed enhancements, is set to launch in July 2014, including the high-performance JCW model. However, the introduction timing for Japan has not yet been determined.
