Equipped with Lexus' Most Powerful V8 Ever
Lexus' new"F" modelThe "RC F," based on the "RC" announced at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2013, is set to appear.
Visually, the wide tires, distinctive air intakes, and four trapezoidally arranged tailpipes assert its more aggressive nature along with improved functionality. The mesh pattern below the bumper of the Lexus brand's iconic spindle grille is an elaborate design inspired by the "F" motif.
It has been revealed that the engine will be "the most powerful V8 in Lexus history," making it certain to surpass the current "IS F"'s maximum output of 311kW (423ps). Furthermore, to accommodate the V8 engine instead of the base model's V6 or inline-4 hybrid, a power bulge has been added to the bonnet.
Additionally, a speed-sensitive active rear spoiler is equipped at the rear. It deploys at around 50 mph (approx. 80 km/h) and retracts automatically when decelerating to 25 mph (approx. 40 km/h). This is explained as a measure to maintain the coupe's sleek lines when stationary.
The body dimensions are 4,705mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,390mm in height. Compared to the "RC 350" and "RC 300h" announced at the Tokyo Motor Show, it is 10mm longer, 10mm wider, and 5mm lower. The wheelbase of 2,730mm remains unchanged. The wheels are 19-inch, 10-spoke units, available in three variations differing in their finishing polish.
The interior is also said to be special, befitting the "F" designation, featuring a meter that optimally changes the size and color of its text and displayed information based on the selected drive mode, and a steering wheel with elliptical paddle shifters. Additionally, it includes high-back leather seats embroidered with "F" and foot pedals with rubber slits inspired by the "L" motif.
Detailed specifications and performance figures await the world premiere on the 14th, but it is expected to compete with the newly announcedBMW"M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe, and the next generation of the base model, which recently underwent a full model change, is anticipated to be theMercedes-Benz"C 63 AMG," marking the arrival of Lexus' new high-performance coupe.
