A High-Performance "R" Model Also Available

Jaguar's "F-Type"Frankfurt Motor Show 2011is a model based on the two-seater sports car "C-X16" unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The emergence of a two-seater sports car, 50 years after Jaguar introduced the legendary "E-Type," garnered significant global attention.



As one example, in a reader poll conducted by the British automotive magazine "What Car?" that same year, this concept car was chosen as the "Car Most Desired for Market Introduction in 2012." Responding to such fan voices, the convertible "F-Type" made its world debut at the Paris Motor Show the following year.

This open-top model was favorably received by the market as a new and appealing variant. Then, in November 2013, following the success of the "F-Type," the highly anticipated "F-Type Coupe" was unveiled at the LA Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show.Los AngelesandTokyoat the two major motor shows.


The F-Type Coupe's most distinctive feature is likely how faithfully it reflects the design of the popular concept car, the C-X16. The C-X16's beautiful roofline is one of the iconic elements inherited by the F-Type Coupe.


This beautifully shaped body, like the F-Type, is constructed from lightweight yet incredibly strong all-aluminum. Despite its coupe design lacking B-pillars, it boasts Jaguar's highest torsional rigidity to date, achieved through the integration of the latest technologies. Remarkably, opting for a panoramic glass roof instead of an aluminum panel roof does not compromise body rigidity.


Leveraging this robust body, the F-Type Coupe is the most performance-focused model in Jaguar's lineup, with the top-tier "F-Type R Coupe" bearing the "R" designation signifying high performance.

The F-Type Series' Most Powerful R Coupe

The top-of-the-line F-Type R Coupe is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine delivering a maximum output of 550ps and peak torque of 680Nm. This represents an increase of 55ps and 55Nm compared to the convertible's top model, the "F-Type V8 S." Its performance capabilities include acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (electronically limited).


The R Coupe's suspension has undergone dedicated tuning to support its performance. The Adaptive Dynamics system, which monitors vehicle conditions in real-time and automatically adjusts damper rates, features stiffer spring rates tailored for its increased power.

Furthermore, it incorporates an electronic active differential to enhance traction in all conditions, and Torque Vectoring by Braking, which detects understeer and uses the braking system to correct the vehicle's trajectory. The latter is a first for a Jaguar model.


The braking system, designed to handle immense power, is also enhanced, with the "Super Performance Braking System" as standard equipment. For users anticipating hard driving, such as on a circuit, "Carbon Ceramic Matrix Brakes" are also available.

Composed of Three Grades

The interior shares the driver-centric design philosophy with the F-Type. All switches and controls are intuitively placed within easy reach, creating a simple operating environment. The instrument cluster is also designed for optimal visibility, ensuring a safe and user-friendly cockpit.


As with other Jaguar vehicles, the seats and trim can be extensively customized from a wide range of options, appealing to the owner's personal taste. Compared to the convertible model, the coupe offers expanded trunk space due to the absence of a retractable roof mechanism. This trunk capacity is 407 liters, sufficient for two golf bags.

The lineup includes the top-grade "R Coupe" and two variants equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine. The "F-Type Coupe" is the base grade, allowing drivers to experience the high potential of the F-Type Coupe, including its highly rigid body. It features a V6 engine producing 340ps and 450Nm of torque, along with sports suspension, sports exhaust, 18-inch alloy wheels, and sports seats.


The "F-Type S Coupe" offers enhanced equipment and an increased engine output of 380ps and 460Nm of torque. It boasts a sports suspension with Adaptive Dynamics (high-performance electronic dampers), a mechanical LSD, and 19-inch alloy wheels, making it a specification for those who enjoy a more active driving experience.


All models come with an 8-speed Quickshift automatic transmission. The gears are closely spaced to maintain the engine within its most efficient RPM range. For those who prefer manual control, gear changes can be made using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel or the SportShift selector on the center console.
