Awarded for Styling and Economy

The "Women's World Car of the Year" (WWCOTY) is a global car of the year award that began in 2009, organized by a panel composed entirely of women. The jury consists of 18 journalists from around the world, including North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, and South America. They evaluate cars from a female perspective, assessing quality, driving performance, economy, and family-friendliness to select the most outstanding car of the year.

The awards select the number one car in each category: sports car, family car, luxury car, economy car, and SUV. From these winners, one is chosen as the overall Car of the Year. In the past, the Range Rover Evoquewas named Car of the Year in 2012, and in 2011,BMW"5 Series" and the Citroën "DS3", and in 2010, the Jaguar "XF" were named Car of the Year, respectively.

Regarding the award for the Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost, Craig von Essen, Product Communications Manager for Asia Pacific and Africa at Ford Motor Company, commented, "We are truly excited that the winner in the Economy Car category has been selected as Car of the Year."

He added, "Women represent a powerful purchasing force within the global market. We pay close attention to this significant influence and recognize its immense importance. This award reflects not only our design, development, and technological capabilities but also our approach to the market, including our services. We are deeply honored that the female automotive experts on the WWCOTY jury have chosen the Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost as their Car of the Year."

Victoria MacMillan Bell, a WWCOTY juror from the UK, noted, "I feel Ford's styling has evolved significantly for the better. The Fiesta possesses exterior quality comparable to high-end models, and its 1.0L EcoBoost engine brilliantly balances performance with economy. I've never seen a car achieve both so effectively. It's a remarkably stylish compact rocket."

Shirley Clarke, a WWCOTY juror from South Africa, highlighted that her country is a price-sensitive market, both in terms of purchase price and running costs. "In South Africa, Ford is a brand synonymous with reliability. The Fiesta, especially with the EcoBoost engine, is attracting considerable attention from South African drivers. Naturally, the Fiesta's sensational styling and SYNC technology are also highly regarded. The excellent economy and surprising performance of the EcoBoost engine are poised to resonate strongly."

The Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost is also scheduled to be introduced to the Japanese market soon. It will be interesting to see how Japanese female consumers evaluate the prestigious 2013 WWCOTY Car of the Year.
