Concept Model Based on 2014 Production Launch

Among BMW's X models, the "X6"X6," which combines the rugged appearance characteristic of X models with the sporty, emotional appeal of a coupe, is reportedly achieving strong sales.

The "Concept X4" that BMW will reveal at this year's Shanghai Motor Show is the "X6's" younger sibling. Aiming for production in 2014, manufacturing will take place at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA, where the "X3," "X5", and "X6" are also produced.

The body dimensions are 4,648mm in length, 1,915mm in width, and 1,622mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm. Apart from being about 50mm lower, the overall size is roughly the same as the "X3." The short overhangs and long bonnet are features also seen on the "X6," and the concept model is equipped with 21-inch wheels.

At the front, BMW's signature ring-shaped lights adopt a three-dimensional, multi-faceted design, leading into horizontal lines that connect to the kidney grille. The kidney grille itself features a raised design, reminiscent of that seen on the 3 Series.

The body side features two character lines that rise towards the rear, which, along with the large fenders, create a powerful and sporty image with a distinct wedge shape. Additionally, the trailing edge of the rear window incorporates what BMW calls the Hofmeister kink, a design that slopes diagonally upwards and backwards.

The rear emphasizes width with horizontal lines, skillfully integrated to create an impression of lower height.

While information regarding performance, including the engine, has not been disclosed, it is expected that the production model will feature a lineup largely similar to the "X3."

Furthermore, BMW will also exhibit the "3 Series Gran Turismo", "Concept Active Tourer", and "M6 Gran Coupe", as well as ""Concept i3" and "Concept i8"at the Shanghai Motor Show.
