Subaru's First Production Hybrid Car: The XV Crosstrek Hybrid Arrives



Last year'sNew York Auto Show 2012, the debut was made."XV Crosstrek"A year has passed since then, and at this year'sNew York Auto Show 2013, the hybrid version, the "XV Crosstrek Hybrid," made its world premiere.

Hybrid Production Version Unveiled



The Subaru "XV Crosstrek Hybrid" is Subaru's first hybrid vehicle, based on the XV Crosstrek.
Developed with the concept of a "hybrid car that allows you to experience the Fun to Drive by crossing over environmental performance with an urban SUV," this vehicle features a newly developed 2-liter horizontally opposed gasoline engine, designed for thorough friction reduction, combined with a motor that delivers 13.4 ps and 65 Nm of torque.

The transmission is a Lineartronic (CVT), which houses the motor used for charging and driving within its case.

The battery is placed beneath the luggage compartment to optimize weight distribution. Furthermore, the luggage space is said to be as ample as that of the gasoline model.

Pricing is yet to be determined. While deliveries are scheduled to begin in the United States in 2013, there are rumors that it may be introduced in Japan even sooner. We look forward to it.
