A High-Performance Car in WR Blue Appears
The WRX concept car, designed to evoke the next-generation Impreza, made its debut clad in "WR Blue," an exterior color familiar to Subaru's high-performance vehicles.
Subaru is unique among Japanese manufacturers for its continued production of boxer (horizontally opposed) engines. Naturally, this concept car is equipped with a turbocharged boxer engine and Subaru's signature Symmetrical AWD drivetrain.
Subaru states that this WRX concept "can be controlled by the driver as intended under all conditions." By adopting a lightweight carbon roof and other measures, it achieves reduced weight, a lower center of gravity, and increased rigidity simultaneously.
The body dimensions are 4,520mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,390mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,760mm. Compared to the current Impreza WRX STI, it is 60mm shorter in length and 80mm lower in height. Conversely, the width is increased by 95mm and the wheelbase by 125mm, projecting an image of a handling machine that complements its low and wide exterior.
The tires fitted are special custom-made Dunlop tires, size 245/40R20. The wheels are one-piece forged wheels made of super-duralumin by BBS.
