Golf GTD Debuts in Geneva

The Volkswagen Golf GTD was announced in September.7th Generation Golfwill also be added. This is the sportiest Golf with a diesel engine, corresponding to the "GTI"sporty grade equipped with a gasoline engine.

Sporty Performance Meets Environmental Efficiency

The Volkswagen Golf GTD's powertrain features a 2.0-liter inline-four direct-injection turbo diesel engine, delivering a maximum output of 135 kW (184 ps) between 3,500-4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 380 Nm across a broad range from 1,750-3,250 rpm. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG (dual-clutch) transmission.

While boasting impressive performance with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.5 seconds (6-speed manual) and a top speed of 230 km/h, the manual transmission variant also achieves excellent environmental performance, a hallmark of diesel engines, with a fuel consumption of 4.2 L/100 km (approximately 23.8 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.

The exterior is equally sporty, featuring smoked LED taillights, chrome dual tailpipes, a diffuser, and a large roof spoiler. The interior includes tartan check patterned seats, a sports steering wheel, and stainless steel pedals, mirroring the GTI. The chassis is equipped with 225/45 tires on 17-inch GTD wheels and sports suspension.

This Golf GTD is scheduled to be unveiled at theGeneva International Motor Showin March. Order taking begins in Germany on March 5th, with body color options including "Tornado Red," "Black," and "Pure White." Pricing starts at €29,350.
