The Third Lifestyle Model
The "cross up!" is similar to Volkswagen's other "cross" models, such as theCross Polo"Cross Polo" and "Cross Golf," and theCross Touran"Cross Touran," it is a model that enhances the active image of the "up!" with specialized equipment. The 2012 Geneva Motor Showfeaturedthe concept model "X up!"can be considered its production model.
The raised ride height, underbody protectors front and rear, silver bumpers, black door moldings with "cross up!" logos, and similarly black-trimmed wheel arches give it an SUV-like appearance. This is further enhanced by silver roof rails and matching silver wing mirrors, creating a sporty and sharp impression. It rides on 185/50 size tires and 16-inch "Cross" wheels.
The interior features special red or black seats, and the dashboard can be specified in red, black, or dark silver, matching the seats. The steering wheel and parking brake lever are finished in leather with color stitching, while silver accents adorn the air vents, the outer rings of the tachometer, and the door sills.
The "cross up!" also comes with higher-spec equipment found in the top-tier German models as standard, including a remote key, power windows, fog lamps, electrically folding door mirrors, a 50:50 split-folding rear seat with headrests, a variable cargo floor, a multi-function display, and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
The powertrain consists of a 3-cylinder gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 55 kW (75 PS), paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The "cross up!" will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It is scheduled for release in Germany around the end of summer, with prices starting from 13,925 euros (approximately 1.75 million yen).
