Audi's Success in North America

Audi's global sales in 2012 reached 1,455,100 units, an 11.7 percent increase from the previous year. In the United States, which saw a significant 18.5 percent growth, several high-end models were given their world premiere.

The star of the show was the "RS 7 Sportback." Its heart is based on theS7 Sportback4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, but its output has been increased to 560 ps, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. While the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, the optional Dynamic Package Plus allows for speeds of up to 305 km/h.

The exterior is arguably understated. Personally, I find the "quattro" lettering beneath the Singleframe grille quite appealing, but I wonder if it will be hidden by the license plate if it ever reaches Japan...?

The other debut was the "SQ5." This is the S model of the mid-size SUVQ5, which was already announced in Europe last year. However, while that model featured a 3-liter diesel engine, the version unveiled in America is gasoline-powered. It is equipped with a 3-liter V6 supercharged unit producing 354 ps.
