RS Models Expand

Following the RS6 Avant", the RS version of the A7 Sportback" made its debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivers not only the 309 kW (420 ps) maximum output and 550 Nm peak torque of the high-end model " S7 Sportback", but also surpasses even the " S8" (382 kW (520 ps), 650 Nm) with a maximum output of 412 kW (560 ps) and a peak torque of 700 Nm, achieving the same specifications as the aforementioned "RS6 Avant." Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds. The top speed can be set to a standard 280 km/h, or up to 305 km/h. On the other hand, fuel consumption is 9.8 liters/100 km, thanks to efficiency improvements including the "cylinder on demand" system.

The exhaust system is unique to the RS models, designed to enhance the engine sound during rapid acceleration or when activated by a button. While it uses an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission, the gear ratios and shift times have been sportily tuned for the RS. Additionally, an optional sport differential is available for the rear axle, characteristic of Audi's sports models. This system can automatically control the torque difference between the left and right wheels from 0-100%, offering a higher level of stability during spirited driving. It goes without saying that the "quattro" system, which typically distributes 60 percent of the drive power to the rear wheels and 40 percent to the front wheels via the center differential, drives all four wheels.

The standard equipment includes 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels with seven twin spokes. 21-inch tires are also available in three designs. The brakes feature standard 390mm diameter ventilated discs with black six-piston calipers. For an even higher performance option, 420mm carbon-ceramic discs with grey calipers are also offered.

The exterior, characterized by an RS-specific honeycomb grille, is available in 10 body colors. Customization options include a "Carbon Styling Package" to accentuate the front splitter and rear diffuser, carbon fiber for the door mirror housings, and LED conversion for the "Xenon plus" headlights.

An optional Bang & Olufsen sound system can also be specified for the interior.
