Production Model Nearly Identical to Concept
Lexus's highlight at the Detroit Motor Show is the world premiere of the completely redesigned compact sports sedan, the "IS."
The model lineup includes three variants: the "IS 250," the "IS 350," and the "IS 300h," which features Lexus's first "Lexus Hybrid Drive." All models will be available with an "F SPORT" package. The images released this time are of the F SPORT versions of both the "IS 250" and "IS 350."
As a member of the latest Lexus family, it naturally adopts the spindle grille. Its exterior design, with a low center of gravity and a profile suggesting powerful rear-wheel drive, along with L-shaped daytime running lights, bears a strong resemblance to the concept model,Paris Motor Showwhich appeared at theLF-CC, differing only in the distinction between four-door and two-door configurations.
According to Lexus, compared to the standard model, the F SPORT features a spindle grille with a higher apex. This design expands the area below the grille's apex, aiming to create larger air intakes characteristic of a sports model.
Turning to the interior, the slimmer front seats and extended wheelbase have first improved the comfort of the rear seats. The rear seats are also split-folding 60:40.
The center console, featuring an analog clock, has touch-sensitive dials for climate control.
Regarding the steering wheel and driving position, they are more sporty, inherited from theLFA. With the F SPORT, the meters also adopt a combination of a liquid crystal display and a movable meter ring, similar to the LFA. Three color themes are available, with the "Rioja Red" finish shown in the photo being a first for the Lexus brand.
