Peugeot's diesel hybrid reaches new heights
Shown at the end of 2011,Tokyo Motor Show 2011a refined version of Peugeot's first diesel hybrid model, the "3008 Hybrid4," which was also exhibited as a right-hand drive model at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011, will be presentedParis Motor Show 2012at the Paris Motor Show 2012.
The "3008 Hybrid4," the world's first mass-produced diesel hybrid car, is a 4WD model launched in the European market at the end of 2011. It employs a unique system where a 163ps 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder diesel engine drives the front wheels, while a 37ps electric motor powers the rear wheels.
The combined output of the engine and motor reaches 200ps, and it also features an engine stop-and-start function. Currently, in addition to the "3008 Hybrid4," Peugeot is expanding its hybrid model lineup by adopting similar systems in the "508 RXH" and "508 Hybrid4."
With this refined model, incorporating an improved motor, an updated engine management system, and the adoption of 16-inch low rolling resistance tires, the diesel hybrid's high output is maintained while successfully reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the previous 99g/km to 91g/km, and improving the European combined fuel economy from 26.3km/ℓ to 28.5km/ℓ. Its environmental performance has been further enhanced. For models equipped with other tires (16-inch M+S and 17- or 18-inch sizes), carbon dioxide emissions remain at 99g/km, consistent with the previous model.
Furthermore, improvements to the brake energy recovery system and optimized battery management have been implemented simultaneously, further enhancing the system's reliability. Particularly in the European market, known for its stringent environmental regulations, the "3008 Hybrid4" stands out with its leading-edge environmental performance among crossover models.
