The New DB9, Integrated with the Virage and Enhanced in Power
The "DB9" has been a cornerstone of Aston Martin's lineup since its debut at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.
In recent years, scoop reports about the next model have been circulating from various sources. It has now been announced that Aston Martin will hold the world premiere of the facelifted "DB9 Saloon" and its convertible counterpart, the "DB9 Volante," at this year's Paris Motor Show, opening September 27. Official photos and specifications have also been released concurrently.
Although Aston Martin positions this as a new "DB9," it is more accurately viewed as an integration of the previous "DB9" and the "Virage," which was released in 2011.VirageThe exterior design, while more subdued than the new "Vanquish," shares much with the Virage, except for the trunk spoiler, which features a smaller ducktail at the center, and the "DB9" model badge affixed to the rear end.
Meanwhile, the 6-liter V12 engine has undergone a renewal, including a newly designed engine block and cylinder head, adoption of dual variable valve timing, and optimization of the intake manifold and fuel pump. This boosts the maximum output from the conventional "DB9's" 477 ps to 517 ps, with maximum torque increased to 620 Nm. This represents an increase of 20 ps and 50 Nm compared to the "Virage."
Furthermore, the chassis features standard "CCM (Carbon Ceramic Matrix)" brake discs, which are approximately 12.5 kg lighter in total than the conventional "DB9's" cast-iron brake discs, similar to the "Virage." It also incorporates Aston Martin's latest "Gen 4" adaptive dampers, offering four modes: "Standard," "Normal," "Sport," and "Track." These advancements represent a significant evolution not only from the conventional "DB9" but also from the "Virage."
