Deliveries Begin Early 2013

At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance held in Monterey on the U.S. West Coast, on August 17th, McLaren AutomotiveMP4-12Cunveiled the "MP4-12C Spider," its open-top model, for the first time in the world. As previously reported by OPENERS,as previously reportedthe 12C Spider is equipped with the same V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine as the MP4-12C, delivering a maximum output of 625 ps at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 600 Nm (approx. 61.2 kgm) between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm.



The body, like the coupe model, utilizes a CFRP (carbon fiber) shell known as a carbon monocoque. For the roof, McLaren opted for a retractable hardtop rather than a soft top. The vehicle displayed at this announcement was finished in a new color, "Volcano Yellow."

The price was announced at $265,750 USD, and orders were opened that same day at all official McLaren dealerships worldwide. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in early 2013.
