A Model Emphasizing an Urban Image
Peugeot308,408,508, and the compact SUV4008, presented a full lineup of current-generation models ending in '8' at the Beijing Motor Show. While Peugeot already has 288 dealerships and 700 agencies in China, they appear poised for further expansion.
As evidenced by the frequent appearance of special edition "Roland Garros" models for Peugeot cars, the brand has been an official sponsor of Roland Garros, the French Open tennis tournament, since 1984. In China, where the memory of Li Na's victory at the 2011 French Open—her historic win as the first Asian player to triumph in a Grand Slam tournament—is still fresh, Peugeot aims to establish a sporty, elegant, and emotional brand image.
Furthermore, Peugeot, the first European manufacturer to commercialize a diesel hybrid vehicle,3008 Hybrid4, exhibited the "508 RXH" equipped with the same system and the gasoline hybrid "3008 HYbrid4 THP," emphasizing their offering of hybrid powertrains with both gasoline and diesel fuel options tailored to the market.508 RXH, and the gasoline hybrid "3008 HYbrid4 THP," emphasizing their offering of hybrid powertrains with both gasoline and diesel fuel options tailored to the market.
The model Peugeot is presenting as a world premiere is the concept model "Urban Cross Concept." According to Peugeot, it is a relaxed yet dynamic and provocative vehicle that simultaneously expresses the image of urban dwellers and their desire to escape the city. The design, a collaboration between design teams in Paris, Shanghai, and São Paulo, inherits elements from the "3008" and the "SXC Concept" exhibited at the Shanghai Motor Show 2011. With a modest SUV size of 4.14m in length and 1.74m in width, it fits well into urban life. A notable design feature is the adoption of the "RCZ" double-bubble roof design.
