Bentley Unveils EXP 9 F in Beijing After Geneva Debut

The EXP 9 F, which was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in March, was met with great interest as Bentley's first SUV concept. At this year's Beijing International Motor Show, Bentley provided further details on the EXP 9 F's powertrain and interior, suggesting that the project is moving forward towards production.

Engine Variations Under Consideration

World Premiere in GenevaAt the time of its world premiere in Geneva, it was announced that the powertrain would feature a 6-liter W12 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 600 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. However, Bentley has now stated that they are "considering as variations" the following options:Continental GT V8a 4-liter V8 engine with an output of 500 bhp (507 ps) found in the Continental GT V8, and a V6 engine combined with a hybrid system.

The hybrid model is capable of traveling approximately 30 km on electric power alone, achieving impressive environmental performance with CO2 emissions of just 130g/km, while also boasting a remarkable 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 5 seconds.

The exterior design incorporates the concept of "visible engineering," reminiscent of the classic Blower Bentley, where the turbocharger's compressor protrudes beyond the grille. The circular openings below the headlights, which evoke turbines, serve as cooling air intakes for the W12 twin-turbo engine, with their rims functioning as daytime running lights. This turbine motif is also echoed in the massive 23-inch wheels. Furthermore, a similar design is repeated in the rear lights, which draw inspiration from the jet engines of fighter aircraft.

The interior, which was not detailed previously, has now been revealed. The cabin, designed to exude British luxury through traditional British handcraftsmanship, features a sophisticated blend of wood, leather, and metals such as aluminum and copper.

The dashboard integrates a 3D LCD screen with two analog-style meter bezels. The 3D navigation display is positioned centrally within the meters to minimize driver eye movement and can switch to a camera view for observing the terrain during off-road driving. Additionally, the speedometer automatically converts to a compass in desert regions, and the tachometer changes to an altimeter at high altitudes.

The luggage area is equipped with various features designed for picnics. The tailgate splits into upper and lower sections; when opened, the lower part serves as a bench, while the upper part acts as a roof with an extendable sunshade. Dedicated picnic baskets are stored on the left and right sides of the cargo space, easily accessible when needed. A compartment designed to hold two umbrellas includes a heater for drying them, providing a thoughtful solution for unexpected rain.

Bentley continues to carefully analyze customer reactions to the EXP 9 F worldwide and is making further refinements towards its production.
