Lamborghini's Third Line
Named 'Urus' after the aurochs, an extinct species of cattle that roamed in the 17th century, the concept is positioned as the successor to the 'LM002,' an off-road vehicle Lamborghini sold from 1986 to 1993. Nevertheless, its exterior is aggressive, aligning with Lamborghini's current sports models, featuring large air intakes and LED headlights accented by Y-shaped daytime running lights at the front, and a spoiler mounted on the tailgate with four exhaust pipes at the rear.
The wheels are 24 inches. The suspension is adaptive, lowering the ride height during high-speed driving. The overall height of 1.66m is exceptionally low for an SUV in its class. For reference, the length is 4.99m and the width is 1.99m.
The interior features leather accented with carbon panels in a distinctive design. Furthermore, the touch-panel infotainment system is installed not only in the front but also in the rear.
While details about the engine have not been disclosed, the 'LM002' was equipped with the Countach's 5.2-liter V12 engine, producing a maximum output of 444 hp (331 kW) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. In contrast, the Urus is stated to have a maximum output of 600 hp (440 kW), and it is claimed to achieve this with the lowest CO2 emissions compared to its rivals.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann describes the Urus as "a model that clearly embodies the future vision of Lamborghini and complements Lamborghini's supersports car lineup as a third line."
Production is already planned, with the primary targets being China, Russia, the Middle East, the United States, the UK, and Germany. The sales target is 3,000 units per year.
