A New Milestone?

The "Nuccio," presented as a concept car at this year's Geneva International Motor Show by Bertone, the venerable Italian carrozzeria, is a 100th-anniversary model named after Giuseppe "Nuccio" Bertone, the son of founder Giovanni Bertone and a legendary designer.

With its engine mounted mid-rear, the wedge or "wedge-shape" style, flowing from front to rear in a single sweep, is the "cab-forward" form that Nuccio pioneered with the Alfa Romeo "Carabo" in 1967, developed with the Lancia "Stratos Zero" in 1970, and culminated in the Lamborghini "Countach" in 1973. The "Nuccio" by Michael Robinson is the latest expression of this design lineage, passed down through Bertone. At the same time, as a pure concept car, it is also a free expression, unconstrained by manufacturer identity or convenience.

The distinctive roofline is designed to support the roof using tension, making it lighter and stronger than a chassis that supports the roof with conventional beams or pillars. While powertrain details are unknown, it has been announced that a 4.3-liter V8 engine producing 480 hp will be installed. The dimensions are 4,800mm in length, 1,950mm in width, and 1,220mm in height. Some may wonder about the absence of a rear window, but a 26-inch screen is set in place of the rear window, displaying images of what is behind. If you are curious about the engine, this screen can be made transparent.
