A Crucial Model for the Entire VW Group

The most significant model at this Geneva Motor Show, making its world debut,New Audi A3is likely the new Audi A3. While its exterior design has been refined in detail and its interior meticulously crafted compared to the previous generation, this is merely the surface. The new A3 is poised to have a profound impact on the automotive industry moving forward.

This is because the new A3 is the first model to utilize the“MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix)”platform that the Volkswagen Group is championing. MQB is a strategy that allows for the derivation of numerous models from a single vehicle structure. Crucially, MQB differs from previous "platform sharing." Platform sharing involved using the basic structure of one chassis for multiple models of similar size. MQB, however, can accommodate different sizes and categories. This means the fundamental design of the new A3 will be applicable not only to the next Volkswagen Golf but also to larger SUVs and compact cars. For the Volkswagen Group, which owns many brands like SEAT and Škoda and aims to expand its presence further in markets such as China, Mexico, and Brazil, multi-model deployment is a lifeline. Therefore, the new basic design of the Audi A3 serves as the 'constitution' for the entire Volkswagen Group going forward.
