Uses the same lightweight platform as the March
At this year's Geneva Motor Show, running until March 18th (Sunday), Nissan exhibited four vehicles slated for production. The "Invitation," scheduled for release in Europe in 2013, is a B-segment model, sharing the same platform as the "March/Micra" and "Juke." It is also seen as the successor to the popular "Note" in Japan.
The exterior, said to achieve class-leading aerodynamic performance, features a dynamic character line called "Squash Line" on the body side, creating a sense of dynamism. The design is further enhanced by sculpted front and rear wings, and a front windshield that flows seamlessly into the roof.
The body structure utilizes the V platform, known for its light weight and high rigidity, similar to the "March/Micra." This is said to achieve excellent handling and a refined ride. The suspension consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Both are mounted on subframes, which helps to reduce the transmission of noise, vibration, and road imperfections.
The body dimensions are 4,150mm in length, 1,740mm in width, and 1,470mm in height, making it slightly larger than the Note. However, by minimizing weight wherever possible, the car aims to improve performance while achieving low fuel consumption and reduced emissions.
