Performance Over 300 km/h and High Environmental Performance Achieved
In line with Bentley's "Environmental Declaration" to "introduce a newly designed powertrain capable of improving fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions by 40%," the V8 model was introduced to the Continental series. Following the Continental GT V8, which debuted earlier at the Detroit Motor Show, the convertible GTC V8 has now officially debuted.
The biggest topic for this car is, without a doubt, the new generation V8 unit. This engine, equipped with twin-turbochargers on a 4-liter V8, produces a maximum output of 373kW (507ps) and a maximum torque of 660Nm. It achieves Bentley-worthy performance with 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 301km/h, while also realizing excellent environmental performance as mentioned above. The result of improved fuel efficiency is a driving range of over 800km on a single tank, further enhancing its capabilities as a grand tourer.
Enabling these capabilities are the newly developed close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission and the variable cylinder system. The variable cylinder system, also found in the Mulsanne's V8 unit, seamlessly switches between V8 and V4 modes depending on driving conditions. Even for a manufacturer like Bentley, which handles only ultra-high-performance cars, this is a key technology in today's environment where high environmental performance is demanded.
The exterior and interior also feature the same characteristics as the Continental GT V8. The exterior, in particular, has been finished with a sportier image through items such as a front grille with a chrome-plated frame and center bar, painted black, and a red enamel "B" badge.
While the official launch timing has not been announced, this car, which combines Bentley's signature driving performance with high environmental efficiency, is one to look forward to its market introduction.
