Maserati's First North American Production
Maserati unveiled the "Kubang" in Detroit, entering the highly competitive sports luxury SUV segment in North America, Maserati's largest market, with the aim of expanding the brand's product range. While it is said to be produced in North America and based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Maserati states, "This model is pure Maserati, perfectly embodying the brand's core values of sportiness, elegance, glamour, luxury, performance, and craftsmanship."
Engine Crafted by Ferrari in Maranello
Indeed, 100 percent of the suspension, brakes, steering, and electronics are sourced from Maserati in Modena. The distinctive Maserati design is the work of the "Maserati Style Center" led by Lorenzo Ramaciotti.
Furthermore, the powertrain design is overseen by Paolo Martinelli, head of Maserati's powertrain division, who spent nearly 30 years as head of F1 engine development at Ferrari. While details remain undisclosed, this Martinelli-engineered engine will be produced in Maranello and paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the Kubang.
This exceptionally luxurious vehicle – what will the North American market's reaction be?
