Two Cars Born from Discussions with Younger Customers
"Chevrolet has always targeted all age groups. The two concept cars we are announcing are new coupes aimed primarily at the next generation, those who will be starting to drive soon," said Mark Reuss, President of General Motors North America.
Unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show were two cars with the code names "130R" and "140S." For their development, Chevrolet engaged in discussions with young American customers and considered styling and features based on their feedback.
Specific initiatives include creating a four-seater coupe that offers not only performance but also functionality and comfort. Adopting vehicle telematics technology "MyLink," which enhances infotainment elements based on the satellite-based emergency automatic notification system "OnStar." And offering them at a considerable price point of under $20,000.

Let's look at the characteristics of each model. First, the code-named "130R" is a simple four-seater coupe. The body is finished in a red metallic color, and the wheels are matte gold with an anodized finish. Chevrolet describes this car, with its aggressive front fascia, flared fenders, and linear, restrained proportions, as "a model that reflects Chevrolet's traditional performance and proportions." It is rear-wheel drive and features an idling stop mechanism and a brake energy recovery system.
Meanwhile, the code-named "140S" is a four-seater sporty coupe advertised as "enjoying exotic driving at an affordable price." The designer of the 140S aimed for the typical design of a luxury sports coupe. Sharing the same platform as the C-segment sedan "Cruze" and the range-extender "Volt," this car features a three-door hatchback style, is finished in matte white, and is equipped with chrome wheels. The 140S engine incorporates features such as an engine start-stop system.
Incidentally, both cars are reportedly powered by a 1.4-liter Ecotec turbocharged engine producing a maximum output of 150 hp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm.
