The North American International Auto Show: A Fitting Stage for Unveiling

Exhibited at this year's 28th North American International Auto Show was the concept model "LF-LC," for which teasers had been released multiple times since the end of last year. Like the concept sedan "LF-Gh" unveiled at last year's New York Auto Show, the LF-LC appears as a model symbolizing the new generation of Lexus. The first generation of Lexus's flagship model, the "LS," was also announced at this very show 23 years ago. Therefore, Lexus General Manager Mark Templin stated that the North American International Auto Show is "a fitting stage for the unveiling of the LF-LC."

Developed from a blank slate, the LF-LC boasts an exciting and emotional styling. Its dynamic design, composed of intricate lines—such as the wedge-shaped front grille that echoes the LF-Gh, the sharp, L-shaped daytime running lights at the front and rear that follow the body lines, and the sculpted rear face—emphasizes the LF-LC's driving prowess. The steeply raked windshield, combined with a sliding panoramic glass roof, offers the driver an expansive view.

Abundant Features Tailored for the Driver

The unique interior, sculpted with bold, flowing lines, is also striking. The entire cabin is enveloped in leather, complemented by beautiful wood trim and accented with metallic edging, creating an atmosphere of luxury not just through material quality but overall.

In terms of equipment, a large 12.3-inch LCD screen is positioned in the center of the instrument panel, and the center console features a dock for an iPad to control navigation, audio, and interior climate. Furthermore, the doors are equipped with 4-inch touch-sensitive screens for adjusting windows, seat angles, and more.

The multi-layered seats are stylish and sporty, reminiscent of racing car seats. Overall, while the appointments are luxurious, the key feature is the enhancement of functions specifically for the driver.

Regarding the powertrain, nothing has been revealed other than that it will feature the latest hybrid system.

Lexus states that with the LF-LC and the new "GS" class, which will soon go on sale, the brand is entering its third phase. The first phase focused on delivering the highest quality and value to customers, while the second phase aimed for high sales targets by expanding product variations. Now, in the third phase, Lexus intends to develop products that offer a greater sense of driving enjoyment.

Lexus plans to unveil a total of nine new models within 2012. This year appears to mark the beginning of further advancements for Lexus.
