A Dedicated City Commuter
EVs face the challenge of extending their range. However, Toyota proposes the "FT-EV III," believing that a form factor dedicated to short-distance travel is the true essence of an EV.
The base for this EV city commuter is the "iQ," which boasts an ultra-compact and lightweight package.
Toyota recognizes EVs, powered by electricity—a promising alternative energy source to fossil fuels—as important eco-cars of the future that emit no CO2 while driving. The company is advancing development with the aim of introducing this FT-EV III, suited for short-distance travel, to the market in 2012.
The FT-EV III is equipped with a lithium-ion battery and is expected to have a driving range of 105 km on a single charge.
