The Dramatically Evolved New Lexus LX: A Report on Its Ride Quality | LEXUS
The Comfort of the "EXECUTIVE" Exceeds the Realm of Automobiles
The rear seats of the "EXECUTIVE" offer an unprecedented experience. The development team created a unique seating position. With the press of a button on the rear console control panel, the front passenger seat slides forward electrically, followed by the rear seat itself reclining up to 48 degrees. The back of the front passenger seat also functions as an ottoman, completing the setup when your legs are rested upon it in the reclined position.
Its form is truly "zero gravity." It is said to be inspired by the neutral posture advocated by NASA, making it quite sophisticated. The legroom reportedly extends up to 1000mm. I had the opportunity to sit in this position, and it truly transcends the boundaries of a car. While the seats of luxury cars are often compared to first-class airline seats, this feature makes such comparisons difficult to use casually.
Of course, the headrest, seatback, and cushion are exclusive to the "EXECUTIVE." Even in "Relax Mode," the seat was designed with consideration for lateral G-forces during driving. Personally, I was also impressed by the air conditioning vents located on the ceiling for the rear seats. The airflow from the air conditioner is controlled to shower down from above, like gentle warm water. This is a novel approach. Combined with the footwell air conditioning vents, it's perfect. This represents the culmination of Lexus's "omotenashi" (hospitality).

So, what about the driving experience? It is also refined, as one might expect. The ride comfort remains consistently pleasant, regardless of road conditions. The minor pitching that occurred in the Land Cruiser has been almost entirely eliminated, maintaining a flat ride in the cabin. Achieving this level of comfort with 22-inch wheels is truly impressive.
Furthermore, the driving feel is excellent. Unlike the Land Cruiser, which accelerates with a sudden burst of throttle, the LX accelerates linearly in response to throttle input, much like a sports car. And it does so effortlessly with a 2.5-ton body. The stability, especially on highways, is remarkable. The transmission, with its increased 10 gears, ensures a refined drive at low RPMs. The quietness of the cabin, thanks to the use of highly sound-insulating glass, also contributes to the comfort.

This was my first encounter with the new Lexus LX600. Its luxurious finish was so impressive that I couldn't help but exclaim, "This will sell well!" However, I heard that there's already a four-year waiting list for delivery. It seems people are making reservations without even test-driving it. Truly remarkable! The trust placed in Lexus by the public appears to be higher than I imagined.
