The Third Model: An SUV

Since its launch in Japan, the V40 has achieved record sales for Volvo Car Japan. Now, the first 4WD model, the V40 Cross Country T5 AWD, has arrived.

Its ride height has been raised by 30mm, and it features SUV-like exclusive equipment such as roof rails, front and rear bumpers, and skid plates, similar to the "XC" series.

The engine is the same 2-liter, 5-cylinder turbo engine found in the sporty "V40 T5 R-DESIGN" released earlier, producing a maximum output of 157kW (213ps) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 300Nm (30.6kgm) between 2,700-5,000 rpm. It also incorporates regenerative braking and an engine start-stop function to improve fuel efficiency.



This is the V40 series' first 4WD model, equipped with the fifth-generation Haldex AWD system. It normally drives the front wheels, but can transmit power to all four wheels when needed. It is paired with a 6-speed Geartronic automatic transmission with a sport mode.

The "City Safety" automatic braking system is standard. Similar to other "V40" models, a "Safety Package" is available, which includes the "Pedestrian Airbag" that generated buzz as an option on the "V40," and the "Human Safety" automatic braking system capable of detecting pedestrians, along with nine other safety features.

The price is 3.59 million yen. It is available only in right-hand drive, with a choice of 13 exterior colors.
