Zagato x Aston Martin: The Ultimate Collaboration
The "V12 Zagato," a collaborative model between Britain's "Aston Martin" and Italy's coachbuilder "Zagato," has been unveiled in Japan. Last year,Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganzathis model made its world premiere at the "Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza," simultaneously sweeping the awards in the prototype category. It already exudes the aura of a legendary car destined for history. Limited to 150 units worldwide, production will span one year starting in September.
The ancestor of this "V12 Zagato" can be considered the legendary "DB4GT Zagato," a collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato that celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. Born in the early 1960s, only 19 units were produced, and this lightweight coupe, which has fetched auction prices as high as 4 million pounds, has passed its DNA to the newly born "V12 Zagato."
The base model is the Aston Martin "V12 Vantage." However, production requires approximately 2,000 hours, ten times that of a standard model. While retaining the fundamental Aston Martin design, the flowing yet aggressive body shape, characteristic of Zagato, is hand-formed from aluminum by artisans. Notable features include the large, open grille with repeating "Z" shapes, a powerful side profile, rear lines reminiscent of the "DB4GT Zagato," and the distinctive double-bubble roof. Furthermore, carbon fiber is visibly used throughout to achieve the lightweight body.
The "V12 Vantage," which Aston Martin describes as "elegant yet savage," embodies power, beauty, soul, refinement, and high performance. The red badge signifies its status as a special model. The price is 330,000 pounds (approximately 40.5 million yen).
Also on display at the venue were the "Winner Sport" collaboration shoes between John Lobb and Aston Martin, which OPENERS has previously reported on. For more details on these, feature articleplease refer to our.
